Luthea has been writing original emotive music since she was 13 years old. She grew up in Canada and Spain but moved to London to follow her dream of making it in the music industry and having her music heard around the world.
It was in the pubs and clubs in London where this Canadian/Spanish singer/songwriter and accomplished guitar player paid her dues.
She was soon spotted by the Ex-Apple Records (Spain) AR, Frank Andrada, who signed her to his independent label and soon after that, she recorded her first record Out of Without released in November 2001.
“I started writing songs and recording them solo in demos. Frank Andrada loved the songs and saw their potential and that’s where it all began. My label sent my solo demos to U2′s producer Daniel Lanois, who I admire a lot, and also to John Leckie, Radiohead’s The Bends producer. John liked my stuff but felt he was more appropriate to work with bands, that I needed a producer who could also be a musician. Daniel Lanois was busy recording U2′s latest record and he recommended another great producer: Malcolm Burn. Malcolm listened to my stuff and replied right away. He was very enthusiastic. We arranged to meet soon after that in New Orleans. We liked each other and scheduled the recording of the album”.
